BREASTFEEDING

Breastfeeding can have many benefits for you and your baby. It meets all of your babies nutritional needs for the first 6 months, it is convenient, helps you to return to your pre-pregnancy shape and it's free. Breastmilk provides your baby with protection against allergies, some diseases and immunological conditions. You will never run out of breastmilk, your body works on the "supply and demand" principle. Which means the more your baby needs, the more you produce ... well done Mum.

The intimacy between Mum and baby during feeding times, also provides quality bonding time and can be a real joy. A great resource and heaps of support is available from your local Breastfeeding Association and Baby Health Clinic.
